Habitat for Humanity of Teller County is part of a global, non-profit housing organization dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating, and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions. Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman, and child should have a place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all.

Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliated organizations (HFH) will not proselytize. Nor will HFH work with entities or individuals who insist on proselytizing as part of their work with HFH. This means that HFH will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must (i) adhere to or convert to a particular faith, or (ii) listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith.

Inclusiveness

All who believe that everyone deserves a decent, affordable place to live are welcome to be part of our Habitat community, regardless of race, religion, age, gender, political views, or any other distinctions that too often divide us. Habitat welcomes volunteers, homeowners, and supporters from all backgrounds, and serves people regardless of race or religion. Based on our belief in inclusivity, Habitat for Humanity of Teller County will actively include people from all walks of life in our work, and be intentional about developing a diverse network of partners. Together we embrace our common humanity, as we work side by side building a community where everyone has a place to call home.

History

An affiliate organization of Habitat for Humanity International, Habitat for Humanity of Teller County was established in 1999 by a group of passionate volunteers. These volunteers worked tirelessly to fundraise, acquire land, select families and manage all of the logistics to build the first Habitat homes in our community. Since then, Habitat for Humanity of Teller County has built homes in Florissant, Victor, Cripple Creek, Divide and Woodland Park.
