This summer has been a summer of transition!
Three families moved into their new homes! Congratulations to the Choates, Manleys, and Atencios. We hope your families continue to grow and thrive.
Two new staff members joined the team! Welcome to Karen Fay, Finance Coordinator, and Violet Hanratty, Volunteer Coordinator. Karen has been a long-time volunteer with Habitat, helping process donations in the office several days a week, for more than two years. Additionally, Karen has a lifetime of experience in the high-tech industry, as a software specialist and trainer. Her technical expertise will be a valuable asset to our staff! Violet Hanratty comes to us from Buena Vista, where she was the Buena Vista ReStore manager. In her experience there, she revitalized the store itself and dramatically increased volunteer engagement. Already, in her time here, she’s planned events, been granted a team of AmeriCorps volunteers, and been asked to participate in a volunteer engagement webinar with Habitat for Humanity International staff!
Two of our other staff members have transitioned into new roles! Susan Cummings has moved from the role of bookkeeper into the Homebuyer Services Coordinator role. Her years of experience working with Habitat have given her a good understanding of Habitat’s application and homeownership process, and her personal experiences as a homeowner have given her a solid knowledge base for our future homeowners to tap into. Susan has gracefully and diligently worked with all of the future Clock Tower Condominium owners to get their paperwork ready and approved for closings at the end of January! Colleen Urffer, formerly the Volunteer Coordinator, has shifted into the Resource Development Coordinator position. Colleen brings her experience and diligence as a graduate student and writer to the position; she is scheduled to complete her Master’s Degree in May of 2017.
